Updated UK Passport Fees: What You Need to Know
On March 19, HM Passport Office confirmed changes to the cost of passport applications for British citizens applying within the UK and overseas. As the sole authority for issuing UK passports and overseeing civil registration via the General Register Office, HM Passport Office aims to ensure financial sustainability through this fee adjustment.
Also, the increased fees will contribute to processing costs, consular assistance abroad—especially for lost or stolen passports—and border security expenses for British citizens.

Why Are UK Passport Fees Increasing?
Historically, passport processing has been funded partly by general taxation. However, the revised fee structure is designed to make the system self-sustaining, ensuring that those who use passport services cover the associated costs.
