About the 2025/2026 PTDF Overseas Scholarship
The PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme was developed to expose Nigerian scholars to a broad range of global knowledge and high-standard facilities, building capacity for the nation’s oil and gas sector. The scheme now emphasizes strengthening local capacity development alongside overseas training.

Eligibility Criteria:
For MSc Applicants:
- Minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) degree or Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience.
- Completion of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Computer literacy.
- Five O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
- A Statement of Purpose (max. 500 words) explaining the proposed study, relevance to the oil and gas sector, and anticipated national impact.
- National Identity Number (NIN) with verification.
For PhD Applicants:
- Minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) degree and a sound postgraduate degree.
- Research Proposal (max. 5 pages) covering Topic, Introduction, Objectives, Methodology, and Data Collection Methods.
- Academic staff must submit a letter from their Vice-Chancellor confirming they are not benefiting from any other scholarships.
- NYSC certificate, computer literacy, and a verified NIN are also required.
