New York University CSAAD Fellowship 2026

Applications are now open at New York University, Center for the Study of Africa and the African Diaspora (CSAAD)  for the CSAAD 2025-2026 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.

This prestigious program at New York University is tailored to provide early-career scholars from Africa and the African Diaspora (excluding those residing in North America and Europe) with a transformative research opportunity at a globally renowned institution.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants for the CSAAD Postdoctoral Research Fellowship must meet the following conditions:
• Must currently reside and work in Africa or the African Diaspora (excluding North America and Europe)
• Must have earned a PhD within the last four years
• Research focus must be on Africa or its Diaspora
• Scholars specializing in Humanities and Social Sciences are encouraged to apply

Research and Fellowship Scope

This fellowship offers scholars an unparalleled chance to further their research at NYU, utilizing the university’s rich resources and academic network. Fellows can opt to spend either one or two semesters at NYU:
Fall 2025: September 2, 2025 – January 12, 2026
Spring 2026: January 20, 2026 – May 31, 2026
If applying for both semesters, applicants must indicate their preference in case only one semester is granted.

• A one-page introduction letter
• A two-page research project summary, detailing how NYU and New York City’s resources will support their research
• A letter of recommendation
