The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has officially opened applications for the 2025/2026 Local Postgraduate (Master’s Degree) Scholarship Programme.
This prestigious opportunity is in a bid to boost human resource development in the Niger Delta Region.
This fully-funded Scholarship equips qualified graduates from the Niger Delta with advanced academic training and professional skills in select disciplines.
The initiative supports the Federal Government’s Local Content Policy by preparing young talents to contribute meaningfully to national development and global competitiveness.

Eligibility Criteria of the NDDC Local Postgraduate Scholarship
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be an indigene of the Niger Delta Region.
- Be not more than 40 years of age at the time of application.
- Hold a minimum of a:
- First Class, Second Class Upper or Lower Bachelor’s Degree, OR
- Higher National Diploma (HND) with Upper Credit plus a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD).
Application Requirements
Applicants must upload the following:
- Recent passport photograph
- Local Government Identification Letter
- Postgraduate admission letter from a Nigerian university
- Degree/HND/PGD certificates
- NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate
Upon submission, a registration number will be generated. Candidates are advised to print and retain their acknowledgment slip.
Selection Process
- Initial Application: Submission via the NDDC website
- Preliminary Shortlisting: Based on academic and identification documents
- Computer-Based Test (CBT): Held in Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Rivers States
- Candidates must score at least 70% to advance
- Further Shortlisting: Based on CBT performance
- Oral Interview
- Final Verification: Through LGAs and Community Development Committees
Note:
- Preference is given to candidates from Oil-Producing Host Communities who meet the required scores.
- No deferments, course changes, or institution changes are permitted.
- The NDDC will not contact unsuccessful candidates.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for CBT and interviews.
