Scholarship Details

The position is offered through the Wildlife Habitat Ecology Laboratory at Montana State University. The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary research project focused on understanding the interaction of wildfire and livestock grazing in shaping ecological and agricultural resilience across the Intermountain West.

This project aims to:

  • Examine how fire regimes and grazing practices affect soil health, biodiversity, and vegetation.
  • Evaluate the long-term effects on forage productivity, wildlife habitat, and rangeland sustainability.
  • Provide insights that will guide land management and conservation practices.
Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Hold a B.S. degree in rangeland ecology, fire ecology, wildlife biology, natural resource management, or a related discipline.
  • Have fieldwork experience (vegetation, soils, or wildlife).
  • Possess strong analytical and quantitative skills (GIS/remote sensing experience is a plus).
  • Be capable of working independently in remote conditions and collaboratively within a research team.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication abilities.
