About the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) and the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) places value in  promoting academic excellence among graduate students at publicly funded Ontario universities. However, these scholarships are co-funded by the Ontario government and participating institutions, with the government covering two-thirds of the award and universities contributing the remaining one-third.

Also, the OGS is available to students from all academic disciplines and is open to both Canadian citizens/permanent residents and international students.

Eligibility Criteria for the 2025 OGS

To be eligible for the 2025 Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in **graduate studies at the master’s or doctoral level.
  •  Must be registered full-time in a program that spans at least two terms (21 to 52 weeks) within the academic year.
  • Must be attending one of the participating Ontario universities (see list below).
  •  Applications are assessed based on merit, with each institution setting its own selection criteria.
Scholarship Benefits

The OGS award is structured based on the number of consecutive study terms within an academic year:

  1. $10,000 for two consecutive terms
  2. $15,000 for three consecutive terms

Each OGS scholarship is valid for:

  1. A minimum of one academic year (2 or 3 consecutive terms).
  2. A maximum of two years (up to 6 consecutive terms).
