Fully Funded 2025 UNDP Cybersecurity Training for Youth in West & Central Africa

The Give1Project, Concordia University, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) are thrilled to launch the application round for the 2025 edition of the Regional Cybersecurity Training Program — a fully-funded 2025 UNDP Cybersecurity Training for Youth and young minds across West and Central Africa.

This year’s initiative which is building on the success of its 2023 pilot cohort will train 150 youth in the essential and evolving field of cybersecurity, equipping them with the skills to thrive in Africa’s growing digital economy.

Overview of the Program

The training is structured for maximum impact, blending virtual learning with in-person hands-on sessions, where possible. Special access points will be set up to ensure that young people in rural and underserved communities can participate fully, with access to computers and internet connectivity.

A standout feature of the program: five participants per country will be selected as future trainers, empowering them to build local expertise and expand the reach of cybersecurity knowledge in their communities.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you:

  • Are between 18 and 35 years old
  • Are a citizen of one of the 24 West and Central African nations (e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Mali, etc.)
  • Are enrolled in or have graduated from a university or technical institution
  • Have a genuine interest in cybersecurity, with basic knowledge or experience
  • Are fluent in English or French
  • Hold a valid ID or passport
Selection Process

Applicants will go through a multi-phase evaluation to ensure a strong cohort:

  1. Initial Review (Weighted Evaluation):
    • Motivation – 25%
    • Skills (IT/programming/cyber basics) – 35%
    • Experience – 15%
    • Education Background – 10%
    • Extra-curricular Activities – 15%
  2. Technical Assessment: A practical evaluation for shortlisted candidates.
  3. Interview Stage: Final candidates will be invited for interviews before the final selection.
