What is the SBW Berlin Scholarship?

The SBW Berlin Scholarship program is open to international applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service. It seeks to support students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or master’s degrees, as well as vocational training in special cases.

Recipients will receive comprehensive support including full tuition coverage, accommodation, living stipends, and even travel allowances.

Scholarship Focus

SBW Berlin seeks applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to social causes in their home countries. The goal is to empower these individuals to complete their education in Germany and return home equipped to lead community-focused initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be aged between 18 and 30
  • Have volunteer or professional experience in nonprofit sectors
  • Commit to returning and working in their home country for a minimum of 18 months post-graduation
  • Demonstrate limited financial means
  • Have not lived in Germany for more than 18 months before applying
  • Hold grades equivalent to at least a 2.0 GPA in the German system
  • Be in the early stages of their degree (first to third semester) or applying for a master’s right before or after completing a bachelor’s
What the Scholarship Offers

Successful candidates will enjoy:

  1. A room in shared student accommodation
  2. Yearly cost-of-living support (€6,600)
  3. Full tuition coverage
  4. Travel costs to and from Berlin (if applicable)
  5. Duration of support: 30 to 48 months, based on your course of study

  • Shortlisted candidates will proceed to an interview (virtual or in-person)
