Internship Details
The WTO Internship Program is open to post-graduate students from WTO member states and observer countries.
Interns are placed in various divisions of the WTO Secretariat, where they gain first-hand experience in global trade affairs.
There are three types of WTO
- internships:
General WTO Internship Programme – Open to post-graduate students from all WTO members and accession candidate countries.
China LDC & Accessions Programme – Specifically for interns from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and those engaged in WTO accession.
WTO Support Programme for Doctoral Studies – Aimed at doctoral students conducting research on trade-related topics. - Fields of Work
Interns will work in one of the following areas based on their academic background and expertise: - Trade Law
- Economics
- Statistics
- Trade Policy
- Languages
- Administration (Finance, HR, Procurement)
- Information & Communication

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the 2026 WTO Internship Program, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of a WTO member state or an accession candidate country.
Have completed an undergraduate degree and at least one year of postgraduate studies in a relevant field.
- Be aged between 21 and 30 years at the time of the internship.
- Internship Duration & Benefits
The internship lasts up to six months. - Interns receive a CHF 60 daily stipend (equivalent to over $60), including weekends and official holidays.
