About the German Government WASCAL Scholarship

The West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) has opened applications for its International Master’s Program in Energy and Green Hydrogen (IMP-EGH) for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The program aims to equip young professionals with the expertise needed to tackle climate-related energy challenges in West Africa.

The scholarship is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in partnership with top German universities.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the 2025 WASCAL Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a citizen of a West African country (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, or Togo).
•  Hold a BSc degree (Second Class Upper or equivalent) in a relevant field.
•  Demonstrate at least an intermediate level of English proficiency.
• Other ECOWAS students may apply as self-funded candidates (based on available slots).
