University of Ottawa Undergraduate Scholarships is a renewable, merit-based scholarship for international students from Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, South Korea, India, or Bangladesh who are pursuing undergraduate studies in English.

University of Ottawa Undergraduate scholarships is available to students admitted for the Fall 2024 term (September start date) or later with an admission average of 80% or higher. It applies to select undergraduate programs within the Faculties of Engineering, Science, and Social Sciences.

Eligible students Ottawa Undergraduate scholarship can receive a tuition reduction of $17,500 to $25,000 per year for the Excellence Scholarship and $12,000 to $20,000 per year for the Entrance Scholarship, depending on their program of study.

This initiative makes higher education more accessible to African students studying in English, offering reduced tuition costs for select programs in Engineering, Social Sciences, and Science.

Excellence Scholarships

1. Awarded competitively to top applicants with an admission average of 90% or higher.
2. Applicants must apply by March 1, 2024, and have their admission processed by April 15, 2024.
3. Priority is given to students who select the University of Ottawa as their first choice.
4. Scholarships are distributed equally among faculties to ensure diversity.

University of Ottawa Entrance Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

All students meeting the criteria are automatically considered and will be notified at the time of admission.
Although no separate scholarship application is required, recipients must submit proof of citizenship from an eligible country before receiving their first scholarship installment.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be an international student with a valid study permit.
•  Must hold citizenship from Africa, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, or Vietnam.
• Must be enrolled full-time in an eligible undergraduate program.
• Entrance Scholarship: Requires an admission average of 89.99% or lower (converted to the University of Ottawa grading scale).
• Excellence Scholarship: Requires a minimum admission average of 90% (converted to the University of Ottawa grading scale).

Scholarship Duration and Benefits

The Entrance and Excellence Scholarships provide up to $100,000 over four years to cover partial tuition costs.
Scholarships may be renewed for up to 12 terms (depending on the student’s academic performance).
All amounts are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
How to Apply for the 2025 University of Ottawa Undergraduate Scholarship
Follow these steps to apply:

• Submit an admission application to the University of Ottawa.
• Upon submission, the university will generate a Student Number.
•  Log in to the UOZone portal using the Student Number.
•  Upload required academic documents for review.
• If eligible, you will receive a conditional admission offer, which will include the scholarship amount based on your admission average.
