The ENS International Selection is a highly competitive process that admits a small group of the world’s best students into its Sciences and Arts & Humanities departments.

Every year, ENS offers 10 positions in Sciences and 10 in Arts & Humanities. Students are selected through a rigorous two-step examination process involving both written and oral assessments.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the 2026 ENS Scholarships in France, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be under 26 years old at the time of application
  • Must apply only once to the International Selection
  • Must not have resided in France for more than 10 months during the selection year or the previous academic year
  • Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study at a foreign university before application
  • Must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study by September 1st following admission
  • Must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and potential
Examination and Selection Process

The ENS selection process involves two major steps:

2. Entrance Examinations:

Sciences Track: Oral examinations only

Arts & Humanities Track: Written and oral examinations

Marks from these tests determine the list of admitted candidates.

 ENS admits 10 students in Sciences and 10 in Arts & Humanities each year

Important Notes

  • Applicants interested in the Department of Cognitive Studies (DEC) can apply through either Science or Arts & Humanities tracks.
  • Candidates are encouraged to contact the DEC for guidance on the best application route based on their academic background.
  • Only complete applications will be reviewed by the selection jury.
How to Apply for the ENS Scholarship in France 2026 (Step-by-Step)

Follow these steps to submit a successful application:

1. Complete the Online Application Form:
Visit https://candidatures.ens.psl.eu/ to fill out and validate the initial application.

2. Activate Your Account:
Within 48 hours, you’ll receive an activation email for your Dematec account, where all documents must be uploaded in PDF format.

3. Upload Required Documents:
Submit academic transcripts, ID, recommendation letters, and other supporting files on Dematec.

4. Jury Review:
Once your application file is complete, it will be reviewed by the selection committee.

5. Take the Entrance Exams:
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take written and/or oral exams remotely.

6. Final Selection:
The admissions committee determines admission based on overall exam scores and jury evaluation.
