The 2026 Maastricht University (UM) NL-High Potential Scholarship is now open for applications. This fully funded opportunity is designed for highly talented international students from outside the EU/EEA who wish to pursue a full-time master’s degree in the Netherlands.

Each year, Maastricht University awards 24 full scholarships worth €34,000, which cover tuition fees and provide a generous monthly stipend.

2026 Maastricht University Scholarship Details

The UM NL-High Potential Scholarship is a collaboration between Maastricht University Scholarship Fund and the NL Scholarship, financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science.

• Hold nationality outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam.
• Meet the requirements for a Dutch entry visa and residence permit.
• Have applied for admission into a participating full-time master’s program at UM for the 2026/27 academic year.
• Not have studied for a degree in the Netherlands before (exchange programs are allowed).
• Be under the age of 35 as of September 1, 2027.
• Demonstrate excellent academic results, ranking among the top 5% of applicants.

Scholarship Duration

• One-year master’s program: 13 months funding
• Two-year master’s program: 25 months funding
