About the 2025 World Bank Legal Internship Program

The internship is offered by the Legal Vice Presidency and it welcomes passionate law students who are currently enrolled in LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, or PhD legal programs. Participants will be placed at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C., or select country offices, for up to three months. The program is held three times annually.

Interns will collaborate with experienced legal professionals, contribute to daily legal tasks, and may attend high-level meetings and events, gaining insight into international development law and policy-making processes.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must posses the following:

  • Be a citizen of an IBRD member country
  • Be enrolled in a qualifying law program during the internship period (e.g., June–August for the summer cycle)
  • Be proficient in English
  • (Preferred) Have working knowledge of an additional IBRD language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish)
  • Students studying in the U.S. and internationally are both encouraged to apply.
